FaithLens is a simple web application that lets you ask one question and see how multiple religious and philosophical traditions might respond. We take your privacy seriously and aim to collect and store as little personal data as reasonably possible.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you access and use FaithLens, we may process:

Questions you ask – the text you type into the prompt box.
Technical data – basic, pseudonymous information sent by your browser, such as IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), device type, browser type, and timestamps.
Usage data – events like pages viewed, errors, and general performance metrics.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive identifying information such as your legal name, home address, or payment details through this site. Please avoid including those details in your questions.

2. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

Generate responses to your questions using external AI models.
Operate, maintain, and improve the FaithLens experience.
Monitor for abuse, misuse, or technical issues.
Understand aggregate usage patterns (for example, which features are most used).

3. AI model providers

When you submit a question, we send the text of your question, along with a system prompt, to Anthropic’s Claude API or other comparable AI model providers we may use in the future. Those providers process your question in order to generate the multi‑religion responses.

These providers act as independent controllers of the data they receive. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. We recommend reviewing Anthropic’s documentation for more detail on how their models handle data.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

FaithLens may use strictly necessary cookies or local storage to keep basic settings (such as which religions you have toggled on). We do not currently use cookies for targeted advertising.

5. Data retention

We retain logs and question data only for as long as needed to operate and improve the service, troubleshoot bugs, and comply with legal obligations. When data is no longer required, we aim to delete or de‑identify it.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

Infrastructure providers (for example, hosting or database services) who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.
Analytics or monitoring tools that help us understand performance and reliability.
Authorities or third parties when required by law or when necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.

7. Your choices

You may choose not to use the service or to limit the kinds of questions you ask.
You may request that we delete logs associated with your use of FaithLens where reasonably possible and not legally restricted.

8. Children’s privacy

FaithLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through the site or by other reasonable means.
